Estudi\u00f3 la Licenciatura en artes pl\u00e1sticas en Cardiff, la capital de Gales, y una maestr\u00eda en arteterapia en la conocida universidad Goldsmiths College de Londres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lo conoc\u00ed hace 10 a\u00f1os en la inauguraci\u00f3n de la exposici\u00f3n de un amigo com\u00fan. Siempre me ha gustado mucho su trabajo por su sentido del humor, el cual considero oscuro, por su ternura y por la atenci\u00f3n que le pone al inconsciente. Es un gran amigo y artista y me da much\u00edsimo gusto ver sus obras publicadas junto con esta pl\u00e1tica en la revista <em>Quiote<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Jonathan: \u00bfQu\u00e9 papel juega la enso\u00f1aci\u00f3n en la creaci\u00f3n de tus im\u00e1genes?<\/strong><br>Benjamin: Es un ingrediente vital. Sue\u00f1o despierto y garabateo mucho, a menudo como una forma de sobrellevar el tedio o las situaciones sociales en las que no me siento del todo c\u00f3modo. Es una especie de inquietud: paso entre una y dos horas al d\u00eda en el tren, as\u00ed que muchos dibujos los trabajo ah\u00ed. Me encanta ese crep\u00fasculo mental, estar medio presente en un espacio compartido. Mis dibujos fusionan estos opuestos de una manera que me regula. Es muy habitual para m\u00ed. Tambi\u00e9n es una forma de bloquear el ruido: el mundo es tan cacof\u00f3nico. Dibujar es un buen consuelo y un amigo en ese sentido.\u2028Tambi\u00e9n vale la pena mencionar que durante los \u00faltimos diez a\u00f1os me he ganado la vida como arteterapeuta, y eso ha influido en mi manera de pensar sobre muchas cosas, ha ampliado mi conciencia social, y eso da impulso y se filtra en la gente que aparece en mis im\u00e1genes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"734\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/revistaquiote.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/PSX_20250629_2314523-734x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3170\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>J: \u00bfQui\u00e9n o qu\u00e9 influye en tu trabajo?<\/strong><br>B: Decir \u201ctodo el mundo\u201d suena a clich\u00e9, pero es cierto. Algunos pensadores y escritores han ayudado a dar forma al lente con el que miro el mundo y mis im\u00e1genes. Por ejemplo, la definici\u00f3n de \u201cimagen encarnada\u201d de Joy Schaverien puso nombre a algo que yo sab\u00eda o sent\u00eda de manera intr\u00ednseca desde ni\u00f1o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los cuentos, Kafka, Beckett; pel\u00edculas de De Sica, Rossellini. Cosas con un poco de alma. Eso y la mugre del pavimento.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"730\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/revistaquiote.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/PSX_20250629_2316594-730x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3171\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>J: \u00bfQu\u00e9 tipo de materiales usas y qu\u00e9 impacto tiene esa elecci\u00f3n en tu trabajo? \u00bfQu\u00e9 papel juegan en el contenido?<\/strong><br>B: Trabajo con lo que tengo a mano. La elecci\u00f3n limitada me viene bien, igual que el tiempo y el espacio limitados. Pero s\u00ed tengo un par de buenas plumas estilogr\u00e1ficas, una Waterman y una Kaweco de lat\u00f3n pesado. Uso papel de estraza barato y papel prensa. Necesito poder tratarlo sin reverencia. Los materiales caros o de \u201ccalidad\u201d me intimidan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En cuanto a c\u00f3mo el material afecta al contenido, hay alquimias que no entiendo \u2014ni necesito entender\u2014. Soy un poco cautelosa de escala; muchas im\u00e1genes que veo son demasiado grandes, del mismo modo que muchos libros o pel\u00edculas son demasiado largos. No estoy seguro de querer que mi trabajo ocupe demasiado espacio en ese sentido. Prefiero la idea de poder meterlo todo en una o dos maletas y luego desplegarlo para llenar una habitaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Supongo que la segunda parte de la pregunta se resolver\u00e1 sola. Como trabajo con restricciones y l\u00edmites en todos los frentes, y nuestra sociedad se vuelve cada vez m\u00e1s compartimentada, remota y fracturada, imagino que aprovechar\u00e9 eso lo mejor que pueda: mis im\u00e1genes como la luz que entra por las grietas, por as\u00ed decirlo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"722\"
